A&E Lanka Creates a Milestone in Environmental Excellence
American & Efird Lanka Private Limited, the quality sewing thread manufacturer, commissioned a state of the art wastewater-recycling unit (Reverse Osmosis) from GE Osmonics of USA , the global leaders in High Pressure Membrane Technology , thus creating another milestone in environment conservation in Sri Lanka.
Fred Jackson, President of American & Efird, Inc. USA , commissioned the new unit at the A&E Plant in Kaduwela, in the presence of Aslam Omar, Managing Director, A&E Lanka and other distinguished guests.
This new Reverse Osmosis unit is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka , where wastewater is treated for re-use in the entire manufacturing process, thus conserving precious water and also contributing to the protection of the environment.
The latest water-recycling unit adds a new dimension in social responsibility to American & Efird Lanka's long commitment to the protection of the environment having been certified for both ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 9001: 2000 ver., for quality standards. In addition, they are also certified for Oke o-Tex Standard 100 certifying that non-harmful dyes are utilized in the manufacturing process. Most recently, A&E Lanka won the bronze award in the large business category at the Community Leader Awards 2005 in recognition for their contribution to environmental excellence and commitment to the community.
