Brandix sponsors internships for young local designers at Victoria's Secret

Textile and Clothing Technology Department of University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the London College of fashion UK held its first ever graduation fashion show on the 20 th of July at Waters Edge. This fashion show of international standard, showcased the talents of our budding designers with some exotic and fashionable collections of designs.

Four years of hard work, extensive market research and the inspiring efforts of these students were well rewarded when Brandix Lanka, the main sponsor, gave away four 'once in a lifetime' awards for four of the most outstanding designers at this fashion show. The four awards comprised of six weeks all expenses paid training at Victoria's Secret in New York.

The four talented designers left to New York for this training programme on the 9 th of October. This would provide them the opportunity to work with one of the world's leading fashion super brands right at the heart of the world's fashion capital.

The Outstanding Designer Brand Award was won by Janak de Zoysa who showcased the only collection of men's wear. Malika Gunasekara won the Most Commercially Creative designer award for her eastern, country lifestyle designs with exclusive handwork. Ayesha Wickramasinghe's modern collection for the young European women won her the Serendib Inspirational award. Nilika Lakmini won the award for innovation for her creation designed for the individual sophisticated working women in Europe.

The fashion show was judged by Stephen Jones, a milliner of fame from London, Colin Renfrew from the London College of Fashion, Colin Mc Dowell, Otara Chandiram and Dilani Wijesekara.
