Confirmation Statement on COVID-19 Vaccine Donation
Colombo, 22nd January 2021: In the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country, we understand the importance of engaging in solution-seeking conversations at a community and national level.
We have initiated and aligned with the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) in a collective effort to raise funds to contribute to the National Advisory Committee on Communicable Diseases (NACCD) to procure vaccines, as part of the National Immunization Policy of Sri Lanka formulated by the Ministry of Health.
Ashroff Omar – Group CEO is heading the JAAF sub-committee that has begun the process of raising funds among key contributors from the private sector. The industry objective is to raise sufficient funds to provide vaccination for at least one person from the community to every apparel worker vaccinated. Brandix too has made a contribution in this regard.
Given the labour-intensive nature of the apparel industry, we understand our responsibility in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our workers and their communities, prompting our initiative to provide vaccinations for both apparel industry workers and the community at large. We, via JAAF, stand committed to being a part of the Government’s vaccine solution for the country.
